The article compares the idea of an existential turn in the philosophy of science with the problem of the crisis of rationality and culture. The structure of vocation in politics and science is analyzed as a special kind of affect. The conclusions suggest that the affect of vocation replicates hysteria, which allows for a new view of science's recognition.
